Regenerative therapy for Multiple Sclerosis
In a joint research program of Verhaagen and Huitinga, funded by the Start2Cure Foundation, we will develop a regenerative therapy to restore function in MS. Our approach is to apply cutting edge gene therapy technology to deliver therapeutic targets to the CNS. Targets will be identified in brain tissue of MS brain donors of the Netherlands Brain Bank (NBB) that exhibited a high intrinsic capability to repair MS-related damage. Together with Start2Cure, we will push for recovery of brain damage in MS by shortening the path from science to clinical application. For this ambitious project we are looking for a post-doctoral fellow to join a current team of 2 PhD students, a post-doctoral fellow and a technician
The post-doctoral fellow will, together with a PhD student, identify, select and validate targets promoting regeneration in MS using a well characterized MS autopsy cohort of 200 cases, iPSC-derived human oligodendrocytes and in vivo animal models for MS.
- Experience with analyses of (human) brain tissue, specifically transcriptomics and light-, CLSM- and STED- microscopy
- Experience with data analyses and R
- Experience or affinity with neuroimmunology and neuropathology, specifically MS
- Experience with MS animal models is appreciated.
- You are a team player, proactive, a natural problem solver and enjoy making fast progress
