About Jessica

Research

Using fast scan cyclic voltammetry, optogenetic and chemogenetic tools in different behavioural paradigms, I study the role of striatal dopamine release, striatal cholinergic interneurons and the interactions between these two in compulsivity and its behavioural components.

Biosketch

My interest in psychiatric disorders and their underlying neuronal mechanisms led me to doing my Master’s internship in the Denys/Willuhn research group. After obtaining my Master’s degree, I got the amazing opportunity to stay in the lab as a PhD student and continue with the research line I was working on. My ultimate wish is that my research can contribute to a better life for patients who suffer from a psychiatric illness.
