Web Portal for Scientific Data Sharing (6-12 months internship)

📢 Internship Description

We are offering an internship opportunity for a motivated student to contribute to the development of a web portal to share scientific data using an existing open-source RDM repository platform. The platform will support the institute ambitions to further embrace Open Science by enabling researchers to efficiently publish and share scientific datasets in accordance with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.

This internship is suitable for students with a background in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, or related academic disciplines, who have strong affinity with informatics systems and data management.

In this internship, you will contribute to a real-world academic infrastructure project that supports reproducible research and long-term data preservation, including:
•    Implementation and customization of a web portal for sharing scientific data using an existing open-source research data management (RDM) repository platform solution
•    Defining data standards and metadata schemas for scientific datasets in neurosciences
•    Integration of storage systems and data ingestion workflows
•    Implementation of authentication and access control mechanisms
•    Improvement of user interfaces for dataset upload and discovery
•    Collaboration with researchers and technical staff to refine requirements

🛠️ Required / Preferred Skills

Required:
•    Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, javascript, shell scripting and Unix environments
•    Understanding of web technologies (HTTP, APIs, client-server architecture)
•    Ability to work independently and learn new technologies

Preferred:
•    Experience with Python web frameworks (e.g., Flask or Django)
•    Familiarity with databases (SQL/PostgreSQL)
•    Knowledge of Git and version control
•    Understanding of data privacy principles and the GDPR
•    Interest in research data management, digital libraries, or Open Science

•    Duration: 6–12 months (flexible within academic requirements)
•    Format: On-site or hybrid

•    Level: Bachelor’s or Master’s student
