Pieter Roelfsema reappointed as director

The board of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) has reappointed Pieter Roelfsema as director for a five-year period.

Pieter Roelfsema has been director of the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience since 2007 and will remain in this position for the next five years.

In addition to his work as director, he heads the Vision & Cognition research group, which studies the cortical mechanisms of visual perception, memory and plasticity. One of the group’s aims is to develop a prosthesis that restores vision to the blind by stimulating the visual cortex.
