Apply to Work with Us

Thank you for your interest in the research activities of the Social Brain Lab. We receive many requests from brilliant applicants, and we will be glad to consider yours. However, since we aim at providing an individualized approach to supervision, time, and dedication, we regretfully have to reject the majority of applicants. In addition, in line with NWO Talent grants, we also make certain requirements to select applicants with high aptitude for academia and research. Please find below the requirements and documents that suits your application. Please send the documents (in English, as pdf) to SBLinterns@nin.knaw.nl.

For PhD and Postdoc Applications

In addition to the vacancies that we advertise internationally, the lab is open to consider applications from exceptionally talented scientists that would like to work towards their PhD or Postdoc in our lab at any time. Our website gives some indications of the projects we are currently pursuing; and if you feel that you have aptitude for science, are motivated to study the social brain, and have a passion for empirical approaches that decompose social cognitive abilities into controlled experimental paradigms that enable a mechanistic circuit analysis, we encourage you to apply to our lab.

Requirements to Apply
• For prospective PhD Students: The overall average Dutch grade of master studies of 8.0 or better (or equivalent GPA), and a Master’s degree (or proof that such a degree will be obtained within the next 6 months) in the neurosciences or related fields.
• For prospective Postdocs: A PhD in the neurosciences or related fields (or a letter from your supervisor that such a degree should be obtained within 6 months), and at least one first authored publication.
