Prefrontal Cortex (PFC)

The evolutionarily ‘modern’ part of the neocortex involved in functions such as planning, decision making and regulating emotions. It is also associated with working memory. The PFC continues to develop during the childhood; researchers think that the area is not fully ‘ripe’ until around the age of 25.
