How is it that we see what we see, and that we can learn? And where do our emotions come from? How do all those millions of nerve connections work and what role does the biological clock play in this process? These are just some of the many questions our researchers want to answer. The different research groups each try to understand a part of the puzzle. In this way, we can fi nd out how a healthy brain functions, but also how certain disorders, such as dementia, autism and depression, develop. Our research is also aimed at ensuring that medication or gene therapy can repair damage and/or stimulate recovery processes, so that in the future, instead of being an end state, a disease is a starting point for recovery.
