Across different projects, I study the neural correlates of compulsive behavior in human OCD patients and in rodent models of compulsivity at the level of single neurons, neural networks, and neuronal communication between brain areas, particularly focused on the mechanisms responsible for the transition from flexible to inflexible actions, and neuromodulation in treatment thereof. Identifying these signatures of compulsivity paves the way toward improving treatment thereof, by specifically targeting the aberrant neural activity that causes it.
I am a neuroscientist specialized in in-vivo electrophysiology. My main research interest is unraveling neural-network dynamics underlying higher-level cognitive and behavioral processes, which I investigate this in different behavioral and genetic animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders, as well as in human patients with psychiatric disease.
