About Maria Ismini
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens. Currently, I am a student at the MSc Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. I am also working as a Research Assistant at the Environmental Lab of the NCSR Demokritos, focusing on investigating societal resilience against natural disasters.
At the Social Brain Lab I am currently working as an intern under the supervision of Francisca Ayres Ribeiro on the GUTS project, which investigates the role of social relationships in young adulthood. In our project we aim to explore individual differences regarding empathy and emotional responses to an emotional movie paradigm among Dutch adolescent students. To do this we perform MRI scans and we conduct phenomenologically inspired interviews to investigate both the neural correlates and the subjective reports of the participants. My role in the project is to assist with data collection both during the fMRI task and the conduction of the interviews and to perform a preliminary analysis of our neuroscientific findings.
