Project Description: I am working as an intern under Rajeev Rajendran investigating the neural underpinnings of empathy using rodent models. My current project focuses on neural circuits in the Anterior Cingulate Cortex, examining whether self-experienced pain is necessary for pain observation in the Emotional Contagion paradigm. To explore this, we selectively label neural engrams active during self-experienced pain and inhibit their activity during pain observation.
